Who actually makes sure that everything runs smoothly in your favourite club?
As a venue employee, you play an essential role in creating unforgettable concert or musical moments. Even if you don't have any specific knowledge of the music industry, working in a venue gives you the opportunity to interact up close with artists, performers and music fans.
Your main task as a venue employee is to ensure the smooth running of concerts, shows and musicals. You might be (co-)responsible for the content of the programme and take care of the preparation of the stage, the technical equipment, and the backstage rooms for the band. During the events, you will work behind the scenes and ensure that everything runs smoothly. You are the first point of contact for questions and concerns from artists and concert-goers, and you play a key role in ensuring that the audience experiences great live moments.
As a venue employee, you can make the most of your communication skills. This is essential as you will be working closely with different people, be it artists, the event team, or visitors. Teamwork and organisationalorganizational skills are also important to ensure that events run smoothly. Your flexibility helps you to keep a cool head even in hectic moments. A certain technical understanding can help you to support the handling of audio, lighting and stage technology.
There are several ways to start working in a venue. Specific formal training is not essential, but experience in the events industry or hospitality can be an advantage. Many start as interns or temporary staff in a venue and gain their first experience. However, enthusiasm for music and the live experience are the most important factors to be successful in this job.
